Narcotic Policy
PASO ROBLES ENDODONTICS
Narcotic Policy
- In Paso Robles Endodontics, we base our pain management strategy on the best scientific evidence available in today’s medicine. Current scientific evidence does NOT support empirical use of narcotic medications. For additional information please visit The Oxford League Table of Analgesic Efficacy. “http://www.medicine.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/booth/painpag/acutrev/analgesics/lftab.html”
- Paso Robles Endodontics is not a pain management clinic and does not prescribe narcotics on an ongoing basis.
- Narcotic medications come with serious side effects, including but not limited to: Addiction, increased tolerance, hyperalgesia, constipation, sexual side effects, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, impaired judgement, short term memory loss and inability to drive or operate machinery. Driving under the influence of narcotics can lead to car accidents and arrest for DUI.
- There is no evening or weekend prescription of narcotic medications.
- Narcotics are to be taken exactly as prescribed and only on an as needed basis. You may not take them more frequently than prescribed, nor may you combine them with other medications without expressed consent from the provider or pharmacist.
- If anything happens to the prescription or pills, including but not limited to theft, loss or damage, under no circumstances a replacement script would be written.
- You may not fill a narcotic prescription from another physician while receiving pain medication from Dr. Pouresmail. You should only fill your prescription at one pharmacy. Paso Robles Endodontics may inquire with federal/state/local agencies about your narcotic history.
